Our environment and Sustainability statements

Environmental Policy

Haisley Millar Consulting Group understands the sensitivities of its clients including the growing pressures of changing statutory policy, regulation and public concern that relate to environmental issues. Therefore, we will seek to support our clients in complying with environmental best practices by

  • Identifying opportunities to reduce any environmental impact of its activities and adopt these changes where appropriate
  • Communicating our environmental policy both within the company and to the external community
  • Raising staff awareness of environmental issues and promoting individual good practice
  • Giving preference to environmentally aware suppliers whenever possible
  • Making efficient and environmentally responsible use of energy, water and other natural resources
  • Monitoring the company’s Carbon Footprint and seek ways to reduce this
  • Employing sound waste management practices

Sustainability Statement

In today’s competitive global marketplace, the issues relevant to supporting sustainability are directly linked to long-term profitability and viability. We believe that sustainability and business success are not only compatible but are inextricably linked and that by embracing both, we will benefit in the long term.

We believe that initiatives enhancing our reputation and ability to be a strong corporate citizen, providing a good place to work, and being a good steward of our environmental resources will make us a stronger, more competitive company, better able to support and satisfy our broad client base while providing the owners with adequate returns and employees with rewards commensurate with their efforts.

Through our Group Environmental Policy and Sustainability Focus, we will seek to improve the environmental profile of our operations and to encourage clients and suppliers to adopt sustainable practices.

Industries

Clean Technology- as we see it

The goal in the cleantech era is to achieve clean water, clean energy and clean production through the application of advanced technology; to achieve smart solutions to global challenges linked to the environment. The core problems to be solved are the capture, conservation, storage, distribution and safety of biomass, energy and water. Cleantech largely relies on the convergence and confluence of multiple engineering and scientific disciplines to provide environmental solutions. This multidisciplinary approach means that cleantech spans many industries, from alternative forms of energy generation to water purification to ‘materials efficient’ production techniques.

The clean technology movement is very much in its early days and often too many unrealistic demands and expectations are placed on it by global governments and capital providers. Our work in clean energy and clean technology seeks to drive profitable growth by supporting the alignment of innovation, policy, capital and markets.

Life Sciences- driving community wellbeing

The life sciences are a critical component of modern economies with impacts on healthcare and population well-being. For example, diseases and disorders of the brain afflict more than 2 billion people worldwide and have an economic toll of about $2 trillion. Mental, neurological, and substance abuse disorders account for an increasing proportion of the global burden of disease. The World Health Organization attributes to these disorders 14% of all of the world’s premature deaths and years lived with disability and 38% of the total years lost to death and disability to brain disorders. This compares to the higher-profile diseases of cancer (13%) and cardiovascular disease (12%).

Our work in developing genomics, neurosciences, and health systems and design strategies for companies, institutions and government is at the leading edge of the sector.

Emerging Technologies- as we market them

The importance of innovative and emerging technologies over the next decade is seen in the convergence of disciplines such as biology, information and communication technology, mathematics, engineering and chemistry. Disruption, uncertainty, and higher levels of risk and investment needed have accompanied the emergence of next generation technologies. Haisley Millar’s portfolio includes emerging technology disciplines as diverse as environmental modeling, epigenetics, metagenomics, nanotechnology and neuron control.

Sustainable environment- for now and the future

A new direction for Haisley Millar is in the design of sustainable landscapes and environments for our corporate and institutional clients. A sustainable environment encompasses three major areas: smart growth and planning, green infrastructure and green buildings. Our goal – to increase productivity for our clients by providing an environment that enhances employee well -being.
